1. Perception is everything.

Perspective. It’s what makes something either poison or honey.

Eliminate the idea that social media is inherently toxic. Your timeline is a direct reflection of your searches, and your searches are a direct reflection of your thoughts; they create echo chambers.

Once you become extremely intentional with your language, you’ll naturally shift the angle of your vision and what you see will shift with it.

Condition yourself to see beyond the surface of manicured highlight reels. Where I once saw superficiality, I now automatically see all of the little intricate moments of discipline and sacrifice that had to happen in order for that post to exist.

In the end, it becomes clear that getting what you want comes down to emotional control. If you have a goal and you’re working towards it, you’re guaranteed to make it. Comparison, greed, self-deprecation, lust, envy, and excuse-making, are all forms of self-sabotage.

To the conditioned eye, nothing external can ever hide a weak internal.

2. Change is the only constant that exists.

Little by little, a little becomes a lot.

Your journey in life will almost never be 100% linear, as every new change requires you to fight a certain amount of pushback. Learn to ignore the urge to change your plan before you’ve given an appropriate amount of time, energy, and focus to your goal.

3. Detach.

Take nothing personally and you’ll remove 99% of the roadblocks in your life.

I’ve never looked at someone and thought, “I want to be like them”, or, “I wonder how they see me.” It’s the antithesis of how I want to live my life.

Like water, reality molds to the shape you’ve chosen.

Move in a way that conjures growth.

Ask yourself:

- If I had kids right now, would they be positively affected by the choice I’m about to make?

- Am I embodying the best version of myself right now?

The answers won’t always leave you blameless, but they’ll keep you accountable.

Successful people have no time to compare because they’re busy preparing and pursuing to be at least 1% better than their former selves.

I’ve come to see anxiety and insecurity as a form of narcissism. Out in the wild, the zebra doesn’t care what the lion thinks of her. All that matters is that she becomes fast enough to outrun the lion.

The same concept holds true for the human race. It doesn’t matter what others think of you, it only matters what you’ll do to become better than you currently think you are.

4. You don’t only live once.

No matter what happened today, tomorrow is a clean slate.

People underestimate what they can do in one day but they highly overestimate what they could do in a year.

5. The greatest threat will always come from within.

6. Actions speak louder than words.

Whenever:

A) Someone tells me what they want out of life.

B) I write out my goals for the week.

C) People say they love someone or something.

I always take it with a grain of salt.

Why?

Words and actions don’t always align.

What do you have to show for it?

Progress is naturally seen, and success lies in your ability to maneuver through the various challenges that life throws at you. It’s the only way you’ll get to where you supposedly want to be.

If your goals don’t seem like an impossible mountain to climb, you’re not doing it right. It’s also what makes life that much more exciting, though.

Words alone are empty.

As Lex Luthor once said, “the man of tomorrow is forged by his battles today.”

Don’t think. Just do.

7. Circumstance doesn’t change what is right or wrong.

People are flawed, they make mistakes; just like you.

You are defined by how you act in response to the “gotcha!” moment. That’s when you have the right to feel angry, but ultimately realize that you won’t resolve the problem by taking away your love, respect, and affection from that person.

If you want to be heard, you’ve got to make your voice count. You can speak firmly but still with the essence of grace. Anger gets the best of us sometimes, but keep this in mind.

8. It’s not that life is easier now, it’s simply that you’re stronger.

9. In the end, the only thing that anchors us is…

Whether you’re anchored by the past or by the loss of something, consider that you control everything you let go of.

10. Consistency is the key to success in all areas of life.

Life is a long journey, so consider the fact that it may take six years simply to get to that one moment that will forever alter the trajectory of your life.

Sink or swim. It’s your call. My suggestion? Always keep moving.
